I Am A Wife and Mother
I have been married for over 25 years to a wonderful man, James, and we have four grown children. I have a full-time job as a legal secretary. I attend Southeastern Louisiana University, and I am a founding consultant with Biltmore Inspirations. Like most women, I do a lot of juggling and look for ways to do things more efficiently.
My Husband
My husband, James, has always been a great influence to me. He is a self-starter and has an achiever-type of personality. He is always growing and learning. Over the course of our marriage, James has always set the example of what can be accomplished when we plan.
When I first met James, I told him he should be an accountant. Thanks to colleges meeting the needs of working adults, James went back to school, earned his accounting degree, gave his all to an accounting firm for 14 years, and now he and his partner have their own firm, Arete. He truly enjoys what he does.
When we were married, James created our budget. We would make our weekly menu and our grocery list according to the menu. This is a great tool for organization and a time saver at the grocery store. Shopping with a list also cuts back on impulsive buying (of which I am guilty).
Home Projects
My father is carpenter possessing a skill that is becoming a lost art. He pays attention to detail in his craft and he loves what he does. Whenever he did projects around the house, I was usually sitting right there talking to him and watching everything he did. He always answered my questions and even gave additional information about what he was doing and why.
All of those experiences with my Dad remain with me today and give me the ability to do projects around my own home. Whenever I come across a problem, I pickup the phone and Dad is there to help, always pointing me in the right direction. And, when my project is complete, I always call him and tell him about the job I did. I am always left with a great sense of accomplishment.
In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina caused a lot of damage to our home. Thankfully, I come from a family of carpenters and we were able to get back into our home in six months. I took advantage of this situation to do many of the projects myself; I installed the chandelier in the dining room, the ceiling fans in all of the bedrooms and the garage, replaced several light fixtures, replaced all of the doorknobs, and much more.
In 2008, I did a small kitchen make-over which consisted of removing wallpaper (which I had put up in 2000), re-textured the walls and then did a sponge paint job. I also installed a tile backsplash and replaced a light fixture and a ceiling fan. I love being creative in my home.
I Am a Home Executive
All of these things keep me very busy, and so I am the Executive of my Home. I believe that all women are Home Executives. We have many responsibilities, we are very creative and we are very nurturing. I enjoy sharing with other people and hope that I can help someone with the experiences I have had over these past years.
I look forward to getting to know you! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments!
